A tractor is (Your) working machine that produces almost nothing on its own, but is only useful in interaction with its environment. In other words, the tractor should not only move from one place to another, but the result is that the work done by the tractor and machines literally shapes the environment. Therefore, The environment must be seen well and at all stages of the work - visibility from the tractor is of the utmost importance! Valtra is known to be a pioneer in tractor cab ergonomics – visibility is one of the basic things that has already been invested in when designing the tractor's basic structure.
Careful design improves tractor visibility and manoeuvrability
In modern tractors, the cabin walls are made of glass, or at least they should be, if it is technically possible. The engine developed specifically for Valtra's A and G Series is smaller than traditional engines, allowing the engine coverage to be as small as possible. The modern exhaust gas cleaning equipment is also "hidden from view" under the cab. Small is not only beautiful here, but also sensible: Due to the narrow, short and strongly sloping hood, the areas of coverage in front of the tractor and between the engine and the front wheels remain very small. Precise and safe steering is therefore easily possible in all jobs. This is accentuated when working with a front loader - or other front machines. Since more than half of the tractors in this size class have a front loader (even more in the Nordic countries), good visibility is also useful.
Good visibility all-year-round
The large roof window on the equipment list helps when loading up high. However, the narrow dashboard and ergonomic controls always come as standard and limit visibility as little as possible. In addition, the heating designed for northern conditions keeps the large window surfaces bright and clear, even in winter conditions. This requires two heating devices in the tractor cab.
Valtra's good mirrors are also an important part of visibility. For example, for connecting a trailer, there is a separate mirror in the rear window that shows the tow hook. In February 2025, the rear-view mirrors of the G series were updated to be even bigger, and electrically heated and adjustable mirrors were also added to the equipment list. For winter, the G Series also has a heated rear window as an option. As a small but important detail, it is also worth mentioning that there is a strip above the rear window of the cab of the A and G Series, which prevents dust or grime from falling on the driver's hands or neck when opening the window
Independent studies award Valtra top marks
All tractor manufacturers usually remember to praise the visibility of their own cabs. In Valtra's case, however, it's not just self-praise. In test drives and comparisons made by the industry press, Valtra's A and G Series have been recognised for their good visibility. For example, we can mention the extensive comparison test conducted by the German Federal Institute LWK Niedersachsen. The LKW Niedersachsen test included no fewer than 10 different 100-hp tractors. Valtra received top marks. The A Series cab had excellent visibility, driving was easy, and especially getting into the cab and the heating device was the best in the test. Subscribers can read the test in its entirety here.
The comparison test of the joint Nordic press compared the G115 model with six other tractors of the same size. Valtra was the most agile of the tractors tested and its loader moved the fastest. While visibility was still excellent, the tractor was the best loader in the test. The test published in many countries can be read in different magazines, for example, Koneviesti and Profi.
Recently, the good visibility and special loading characteristics of the Valtra G135 tractor have been reported by the Norwegian publication, Bedre Gårdsrift. Subscribers can read the full story here. See for yourself
Good tractor visibility is vital for safe and efficient working. Both the Valtra A Series and G Series have exceptional visibility as demonstrated in independent studies. However, there is no substitute for firsthand experience. Contact your local Valtra dealer and they will be happy to arrange a personal demonstration for you.
